Instagram Spots in San Francisco, California
People travel from around the world to visit San Francisco. If you are one of them, here is a list of the best Instagram spots in the city. (because priorities, right?)
Please know that not all these locations can be visited in a day, but they are doable in a weekend. My collection of best instagram spots has been over a period of time and many trips to the city. All the addresses and store hours are correct as of September 2018. Also, these are in no particular order!
Mr Holmes Bakehouse: This is the most photographed bakery in SF. The line can be out the door and down the block, but it’s bloody delicious. They have unique pastries and a famous neon sign. It says ‘I got baked in San Francisco’. If you didn’t take a picture with the sign, were you really there?
1042 Larkin St, San Francisco, CA 94109
Hours: Monday - Friday: 7AM–2:30PM
Saturday - Sunday 8AM–3:30PM
** OR UNTIL SOLD OUT **
Painted Ladies: These famous victorian style homes are the perfect photo op! They are so gorgeous and very famous. I absolutely love this spot. There is a grassy area across the street where you can have a picnic, hang out and take photos!
Steiner St & Hayes St, San Francisco, CA 94117
*pro tip: put Alamo Square into your GPS and don't forget to check out the murals across the street.
Clarion Alley Mural Project (CAMP): This alley is full of artwork from locals. This is used as an outlet for social and political issues that the community is facing. It is amazing and moving to see this artwork.
90 Clarion Alley, San Francisco, CA 94110
*You can go online and donate to their project here.
Sutro Baths: I love this location. It has it all. There is the ocean with old ruins from an indoor pool, which is now filled with water. I think that this is my favorite spot for sunsets in the whole city. Plus, they have a large free parking lot which is hard to come by in the city.
1004 Point Lobos Ave, San Francisco, CA 94121
Baker Beach: This is not a safe swimming beach, but you can see the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, surfers, and a few nudists. I think it provides really nice views. It is often chilly and a little windy, so dress in layers!
1504 Pershing Dr, San Francisco, CA 94129-3306
Ampersand: This is such a trendy and photogenic flower shop. They are really good bout letting you take photos if you ask. PLEASE If you are going to spend time taking pictures and videos here, please buy some flowers to show your appreciation. They are a business and are kind to let so many people use it as an instagram photoshoot location.
80 Albion St, San Francisco, CA 94103
16th Street Tile Steps: These tile steps are incredible! They are so pretty. Throughout the city there are actually a few places they have done this, but these are my favorite! The steps are in a residential neighborhood, so please be considerate. There is easily accessible parking, but beware that break ins happen often there. They have signs up all over to warn you to take your valuables with you. It can also get crowded so be prepared to wait a while for photos!
Located on Moraga St. between 15th & 16th Ave.
Home Cafe: If you are a foodie, they have rainbow lattes...what more need I say?
location one: 1222 Noriega St, San Francisco, CA 94122
location two: 2018 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94121
Pier 39: This is one of the most touristy spots in San Francisco with things like Hard Rock Cafe, the aquarium, arcade games, gift shops, and the Sea Lions. If it is your first time in the city, you should go to Pier 39. Plan on spending a couple hours there. If you have been before, I urge you to do some of the less touristy things on the list.
Beach St and the Embarcadero.
The Palace of the Fine Arts: This gorgeous building has lots of greenery and water around it. The greek inspired structure will take your breath away. This has to be one of my favorite spots to take pictures at.
City Hall: Once again, this is just a beautiful building full of lots of great photo ops.
China Town: This is. a great area to explore, take tons of photos of buildings, food and events! There is a constant hustle and bustle here. They also have one of the most famous Gates in the states.
There are so many more amazing places, but these are just a few of my favorites!
If you take a photo in one of the spots I suggested, tag me (@capturedbycosca) in your photo when you post it!
